Daughter of the Forest (The Sevenwaters Trilogy, Book 1)

Daughter of the Forest (The Sevenwaters Trilogy, #1) - Juliet Marillier I'm definitely going to need a break before I read the next book. I don't think my heart can take more wringing and wrenching anytime soon.

The Naming of the Beasts (Felix Castor)

The Naming of the Beasts - Mike Carey I'm so sad this series is over, but this was a good wrap up.

Thicker Than Water (Felix Castor)

Thicker Than Water - Mike Carey Good God! I'm so glad this series was complete before I started reading it. I can't imagine having to wait for the conclusion.

The Book Thief

The Book Thief - Markus Zusak I am haunted by this book.

Keturah And Lord Death

Keturah And Lord Death - Martine Leavitt A sweet little fairy tale.

The Selection

The Selection - Kiera Cass This rating may be influenced by sleep deprivation. However, since that condition is entirely book induced, I think it deserves the benefit of the doubt.

The House on Mango Street

The House on Mango Street - Sandra Cisneros I loved it for what it was: a compelling glimpse into the life of a girl growing up. Not recommended for people who need a structured plot.

The House of Silk: A Sherlock Holmes Novel

The House of Silk: A Sherlock Holmes Novel - Anthony Horowitz Granted, it's been almost 20 years since my Sherlock Holmes phase, but I think Anthony Horowitz did a creditable job. He respected the original timeline, characters, narrative structure and voice. The plot was interesting, and even though it would have been a bit risque for Conan Doyle's time, it was handled delicately enough. My only criticism is that Holmes was a little too human. I'm used to a Holmes that's less than likable.

First Lord's Fury (Codex Alera, Book 6)

First Lord's Fury - Jim Butcher Loved this series. Sad it's over.

Blackout

Blackout - Connie Willis This book made me cry and laugh...sometimes at the same time. Parts frustrated me (characters' endless internal speculation, for example), but other parts gave me chills, so I'm definitely in for round 2 in All Clear.

By the way, before you finish Blackout, you should have a copy of All Clear ready to go. Cliffhanger doesn't begin to cover it.

Agent to the Stars

Agent to the Stars - John Scalzi, Wil Wheaton I think Wil Wheaton's narration pushed my rating from 3 to 4 stars. I loved the preposterous plot, but it was his performance that really brought it to life for me.

Scorpia Rising (Alex Rider)

Scorpia Rising - Anthony Horowitz Not a bad way to end the series.

Lord John and the Private Matter (Lord John Grey, #1)

Lord John and the Private Matter - Diana Gabaldon Much as I love Lord John, there isn't much that can compare to the epic style and scale of the Outlander series.

Lord John and the Private Matter (Lord John Grey, #1)

Lord John and the Private Matter - Diana Gabaldon Much as I love Lord John, there isn't much that can compare to the epic style and scale of the Outlander series.

Coraline

Coraline - Neil Gaiman Not sure what I think about the author narration. The music made me a little queasy (which was probably the point).

Rules of Prey (Lucas Davenport Series #1)

Rules Of Prey - Richard Ferrone, John Sandford Enjoyed it a lot, except for that Jennifer woman. I hate her so much, it made me lose respect for Lucas. I guess that's the sign of a good writer: provoking strong emotional response.

I do plan to pick up the next book sometime soon.

(And not just because I hope she dies in some horrible manner. Promise.)
